West End St. Catharines robbery under investigation

On Dec. 4, 2020, at approximately 4:10 p.m. 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers and officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service K9 Unit responded to a report of a robbery at a St. Catharines convenience store.

Officers arrived on scene in the area of Pelham Road and Gailbrath Street; and began an investigation. The investigation determined that a lone male had just entered the store and threatened the clerk with a handgun. The suspect demanded and received cash, cigarettes and scratch tickets. The suspect loaded a black duffle bag and ran from the store.

A search by the officers in the area of store could not find the suspect.

The clerk was not injured.

The investigation was taken over by 1 District detectives assisted by the Forensic Services Unit. 

The suspect is described as:  

  • White male  
  • Approximately 6 ' tall  
  • 30-40 years old  
  • Athletic build.

The suspect was wearing:  

  • Black hooded coat  
  • Black hooded sweatshirt with a red Ohio State logo on the front  
  • Black toque  
  • Black and white bandanna mask covering
  • Dark green pants  
  • Black boots 
  • Black gloves

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives anyone who may have information about this crime or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact detectives by calling 905-688-4111,  extension 1009495.
