Welland man faces weapons, threats charges

On Aug. 13, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Uniform Patrol Officers in the City of Welland, Ontario responded to the area of Southworth Street and Ontario Road in response to an armed person/threats call.

Initial investigation identified that the victims in this matter were not injured, nor were they actively in danger. Detectives from the #3 District Detective Office continued this investigation and as a result Jeffrey Labbe (42 years) of the City of Welland was later arrested without incident.

Detectives obtained Judicial Authorization to search the residence associated with Mr. Labbe.  As a result a number of weapons were seized.

Mr. Labbe has been charged with:

  • Two counts uttering death threats
  • One count possession of a prohibited weapon
  • One count possession of a prohibited weapon in contravention of a weapons prohibition order
  • Four counts breach of probation

Mr. Labbe appeared before a video bail hearing on Aug. 14, 2020 and was remanded into custody. Mr. Labbe will appear before the courts again on Monday August 17, 2020 (video)
