Welland man accused of resisting arrest, assaulting police

Police say the accused kicked an officer, made numerous death threats

On Nov. 8, 2021 at 10:45 p.m., officers from 3 District Uniform Patrol responded to a family disturbance in the area of Southworth Street and Simpson Avenue in the City of Welland.

The suspect was directed to leave a premise in accordance with the Trespass to Property Act. After refusing to leave, the suspect was advised he was under arrest. [It is alleged that] the suspect resisted arrested, and in doing so intentionally kicked an officer. The officer was not injured in the assault. During transport the suspect made numerous death threats toward the officer, constituting a criminal offence.

Drew Carrier-St. Louis (27 years) of Welland is charged with the following offences:
    •    fail to leave premise when directed – Section 2(1)(b) of the Trespass to Property Act
    •    resist arrest – Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    assault a peace officer – Section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    uttering threats – Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Carrier-St. Louis was held in custody for a bail hearing. He will will appear via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines on Nov. 9, 2021.
