UPDATE: 'Dangerous' armed robbery suspect arrested

July 9 update:

On July 9, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Jeffrey Christopher Swalm was observed in the area of Montrose Road and Brown Road in the City of Niagara Falls. Uniform patrol officers assigned to 2 District attended the area and located Swalm, who was subsequently arrested.

Swalm is being held for a scheduled bail hearing via video link to the John Sopinka Courthouse on July 10, 2022, located at 45 Main St. E. in the City of Hamilton.

On June 29, 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) commenced an investigation into back-to-back armed robberies in the City of Niagara Falls.

On July 2, 2022, detectives identified the suspect as Jeffrey Christopher Swalm (45 years) who is currently wanted for the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Robbery using firearm (two counts)
  • Pointing a firearm (two counts)
  • Disguised with intent (two counts)

The last confirmed sighting of Swalm was in the Town of Fort Erie on June 29th, 2022.

SWALM is considered armed and dangerous.  Members of the public should not approach and are encouraged to contact 911 immediately.

Detectives have acquired additional photographs of Swalm and continue to appeal to members of the public for assistance in locating him.
