Two Welland residents charged in cocaine investigation

Niagara Regional Police say they seized suspected powder cocaine with a street value of $6,000 during the search of a Welland home

In January of 2024, detectives from the 3 District Street Crime Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into the illegal sales of cocaine from a residence in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Cohoe Street, in the City of Welland.

As a result of the investigation detectives were able to identify a male and female suspect.

On February 2, 2024 at 11:42pm, a search warrant was executed at the residence and the male and female suspect were located and placed under arrest.

As a result, detectives located 10 capsules of hydromorphone, 14 tablets of codeine, $550 in currency and 60 grams of suspected powder cocaine with a street value of $6,000.

Steven R. Phillips (36 years old) from Welland was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking (3 Counts)

Phillips was held in custody pending a video bail hearing that was expected to take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines

Jessica Trottier (40 years old) of Welland was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking (3 Counts)

Trottier was released on a Form 10 – Undertaking with a future court date.
