Two teens arrested in armed robbery investigation

On Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at 7:59 p.m., officers assigned to 1 District Uniform Patrol responded to an armed robbery at a convenience store located in the area of Scott Street and Vine Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Two suspects entered the store, one armed with what was believed to be a firearm and the other with a knife. Prior to running from the store on foot, a demand was made to the cashier to surrender money from the register. The cashier sustained no physical injures.

The two suspects were observed by uniform officers as they were arriving on scene. The suspects split up, prompting a foot pursuit. One suspect was arrested nearby, while the other suspect was successfully tracked and arrested with the assistance of Canine (Police Service Dog KONA).

The firearm was recovered and determined to be a replica pistol.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada prohibits the Niagara Regional Police Service from identifying the 16- and 17-year-old males involved in this incident.

Both were held for a bail hearing via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines on Nov. 11, 2021.
