Two arrested, one suspect outstanding in Niagara Falls robbery investigation

Oct. 6 update:
As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify three male suspects.

On Oct. 5, 2020, two suspects were arrested.

Brett M. Mclaren (29 years old) of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offence of:
    •    Robbery

Mclaren was released on a Form 10 - Undertaking and is expected to appear at court on Dec. 14, 2020 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.

Michael D. Mulligan (20 years old) of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offence of:
    •    Robbery

Mulligan was held in custody pending a bail hearing, that is expected to take place on Oct. 6, 2020 at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.

The third suspect is still outstanding.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Sage Diaz (18 years old) of no fixed address, for the alleged criminal offence of:
    •    Robbery

Diaz is described as:
    •    5’10
    •    170 lbs
    •    Medium build
    •    Brown eyes
    •    Black hair

Diaz's location is unknown; he does however, have ties to Niagara Falls.

Original Sept. 30 release:
On Sept. 27, 2020 at approximately 11:37 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls) Uniform Officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) attended the Villager Inn located on Lundy’s Lane near Kalar Road in the City of Niagara Falls in regards to a robbery.

Investigation revealed that a 49-year-old female was in a room, when two unknown males pushed their way into the room, assaulted the female and stole her belongings.

The female was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Niagara Regional Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects.

Suspect 1

Description: 

  • Latino  
  • 5’7  
  • Slim Build

Clothing Description:  

  • Green and Black Jacket  
  • Black Pants 
  • Brown shoes with White Soles  
  • Hood  
  • Mask  
  • Back pack

Suspect 2

Description: 

  • Latino  
  • 5’11  
  • Slim Build  
  • Long Black Hair

Clothing Description:  

  • Black T-Shirt  
  • Black Pants  
  • Black Shoes  
  • Black and White Baseball Cap 
  • Medical Mask

This appears to be a targeted incident.

The matter remains under investigation by 2 District Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service.
