Traffic stop leads to numerous charges for Niagara Falls man (5 photos)

Officers seized weapons, currency and suspected crystal methamphetamine

On Jan. 1, 2022 at approximately 3:35 a.m., 2 District Niagara Falls officers were in the area of Main Street and Ferry Street in the City of Niagara Falls. Officers observed a woman entering a stopped car.  The woman was recognized by the officers and was known to have an outstanding arrest warrant.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested Amanda L. Heinbecker (37 years) of Toronto. She was wanted for the criminal offence of:
    •    fail to attend court, CC 145(2)(c)

Officers also recognized a male passenger in the car. Officers received information that the man was bound by court ordered conditions and he was not in compliance. Officers arrested the man. A search of the man, his belongings, and the car; subsequent to his arrest led officers to seize the following:
    •    26.6g of suspected crystal methamphetamine
    •    drug trafficking paraphernalia
    •    $890 CDN (suspected proceeds of crime)
    •    unidentified pills
    •    four cell phones
    •    a prohibited knife
    •    a concealed blade
    •    pepper spray
    •    Beretta pistol
    •    break and enter tools (bolt cutter and lock picks)
    •    various pieces of suspected stolen property

Daniel Bruce Davyes (43 years) of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the criminal offences of:
    •    fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a) (four counts)
    •    unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, CC 91(2)
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (crystal methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking, CDSA 5(2)
    •    possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000, CC 355(b)
    •    unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, CC 94(1)
    •    possess prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration, CC 91(1)
    •    careless storage of a firearm, CC 86(1)
    •    possession of a firearm obtained by crime, CC 96(1)
    •    possess break-in instruments, CC 351(1)(a)
    •    possess firearm contrary to prohibition order, CC 117.01(1)

Heinbecker was released at the scene with a future court day.

Davyes was held in custody to attend a video bail hearing at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton on Jan. 1, 2022.  He was then held in custody and will appear by video on Jan. 4, 2022 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

The investigating officers are attempting to determine the origin of the property found on Davyes at the time of his arrest. Officers have reason to suspect it may be stolen (see photos -  coin collection, collector’s spoons, cufflinks).
