Tractor-trailer knocks over light post, keeps on driving

On Aug. 2, 2022, 3 District Welland / Pelham uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a fail to remain collision in Pelham.

Officers arrived on scene in the area of Regional Road 20 and Pelham Street.  The initial investigation determined that at approximately 5 p.m. -5:15 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2022, a tractor-trailer was travelling on Pelham Street, and turned east onto Regional Road 20. It was a red truck pulling a float-trailer with road-maintenance equipment on it. The truck/trailer combination struck the signal light post on the southeast corner of the intersection, knocking it down.  The truck stopped briefly and then left the area.

There are no known injuries, and no other damage has been reported.

The Region of Niagara has installed a temporary light post, and the and the traffic control lights are functioning as they should.

The investigating officer is attempting to identify the truck and driver.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officer at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009367.
