Thorold man charged following neighbour dispute in French River

FRENCH RIVER - On June 5, 2020 at 7 p.m., members of the Nipissing West (Noëlville) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a neighbour dispute complaint on Amateewakea River Road in the Municipality of French River.

Investigation revealed the accused [allegedly] threatened and harassed the victim.

On the evening of June 6, 2020, with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the accused was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher McGean, age 26 from Thorold, Ont., is charged with:
    •    Uttering threats - damage property, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
    •    Criminal harassment - threatening conduct, contrary to section 264(2)(d) of the CC; and
    •    Mischief - obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, contrary to section 430(1)(d) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 19, 2020, in Sudbury.
