Oct. 21 update:
The investigation into this gun point robbery has been ongoing. As a result of the investigation detectives were able to identify a suspect.

On Oct. 19, 2021, Andrew James Windsor (32 years) of St. Catharines was charged with the criminal offences of:
    •    robbery (firearm) section 344(1)(a) CC
    •    disguised with intent section 351(2) CC
    •    pointing a firearm section 87(1) CC
    •    carry concealed weapon section 90(1) CC
    •    fail to comply with probation order 733.1(1) CC
    •    fail to comply with release order 145(5)(a) CC (two counts)

At the time Windsor was charged, he was in custody on unrelated charges. Windsor remained in custody following his court appearance.

Aug. 6 update:
1 District St. Catharines detectives continue to investigate this robbery. As a result of the ongoing investigation, they have been able to locate more images of the suspect.

Anyone (residents or businesses) in the area with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras are asked to review their footage for suspicious activity for the period between 1:30 and 3 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2021.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.  Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information which leads to an arrest.

Original Aug. 4 release:
On Aug. 4, 2021 at approximately 2:20 p.m., 1 District – St. Catharines uniform officers responded to Fryin Guys Restaurant on Lake at Dufferin Street in St. Catharines for a report of an armed robbery.

Officers arrived on scene and their initial investigation determined that a lone male had just entered and robbed the restaurant while brandishing a handgun. The suspect fled the area on a bicycle prior to officer’s arrival with an undisclosed amount of money. No staff members or customers were physically injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, White
  • Approximately 5’10, 150 pounds – slender build
  • Matted or dread lock mid length light brown hair
  • A tattoo on his right calf

The suspect’s clothing is described as:

  • Blue baseball cap (backwards) with a bandanna underneath
  • Blue/grey long sleeve button down shirt
  • Blue knee length plaid shorts
  • Black face mask
  • Red and white socks pulled up past the ankle
  • Yellow gloves
  • Black Nike backpack with a white swoosh on the back with a black side bag

The bicycle has a black frame with a red marking or logo on the bottom bar and a white seat.

The male was last seen riding the bicycle on Dufferin Street, eastbound towards York Street.

1 District detectives have been assigned to the investigation.  Detectives have been able to obtain photos of the suspect.
