St. Catharines resident charged in summer Niagara-on-the-Lake crash that killed pedestrian

The driver of the vehicle is facing a dangerous operation causing death charge

Update 1 – Feb. 3, 2022

As a result of the investigation, Cody Sullivan (28 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offence of:

  • Dangerous operation causing death

Sullivan was released on a Form 10 – Undertaking, and is expected to appear in court on April 13, 2022.

On Sunday, July 11, 2021 at approximately 9:25pm members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Emergency Medical Services and NOTL Fire responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries.

Police attended and found that a pedestrian had been struck by a south bound motor vehicle that was travelling on Irvine Road in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.  The driver, and sole occupant of the Toyota Corolla, a 27-year-old St Catharines male remained at the scene.

The pedestrian, a 41-year-old male resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the collision reconstruction unit and the office of the coroner.
