St. Catharines man faces numerous child sexual assault charges

In January of 2017, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service's Child Abuse Unit commenced an investigation into the allegation of sexual assault of a female victim under the age of 16.

During the investigation, the CAU detectives determined the suspect was a taxi driver and would transport children under the age of 16, to and from school. 

The offences are alleged to have occurred in the Niagara Region between April 2016 and May 2016.

As a result of the investigation, detectives have identified a suspect.

On Nov. 4, 2021, Jamie Woods, 54 years old of St. Catharines, was charged with the following offences of:

  • Sexual assault with a weapon - two counts
  • Sexual assault - two counts
  • Sexual interference - four counts
  • Invitation to sexual touching - three counts
  • Expose genitals to a minor - three counts

Woods was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Nov. 5, 2021. 

This investigation remains ongoing by detectives of the Child Abuse Unit.  

Detectives have reason to believe there may be more victims.
