St. Catharines man arrested after stabbing in Jordan

Police have charged the 41-year-old with assault by choking, attempt murder

As a result of the investigation, on June 29, 2021, Omar Baxter was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Assault by choking
  • Theft under $5000
  • Uttering threats (two counts)
  • Forcible confinement
  • Assault
  • Attempt murder
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation

Baxter was held in custody and is expected to appear in court on June 29, 2021.

Original Release - June 28, 2021

On Sunday, June 27, 2021, at approximately 5:07 a.m., 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers attended the Big Valley Campground, located 2211 King Street in the Town of Jordan, in response to an unknown 911.

Information received was that an altercation occurred between two parties which led to an assault and stabbing. The male suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect.

The suspect, Omar Baxter (41 years old) of St. Catharines, is wanted for the following charges:

  • Assault by choking
  • Theft under $5000
  • Uttering threats (two counts)
  • Forcible confinement
  • Assault
  • Attempt murder
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation

Omar is described as being:

  • Male
  • Black
  • 5’7
  • 119lbs
  • Dark hair 

Omar’s last known whereabouts were in the Hamilton area. 

This was a targeted event.
