St. Catharines man arrested after police seize cocaine

67-year-old faces a number of related charges

Since September of 2020, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), 1 District (St. Catharines) Street Crime Unit, have been conducting an investigation into the sales of cocaine and trailer thefts from a male suspect in the City St. Catharines.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the male suspect.

On Nov. 11, 2020, detectives executed a warrant in the City of St. Catharines. Subsequently, detectives seized 17.9 grams of cocaine and a utility trailer. The total street value of drugs is estimated to be $2,250.

Daniel Rizzardo (67 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (two counts) - Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking (two counts) – Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Controlled Drug and Substances Act
    •    Use plate not authorized for vehicle – Highway Traffic Act
    •    Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway - no insurance – Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Rizzardo was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Nov. 12, 2020 at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
