Investigators from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit have arrested and charged a 62-year-old man from St. Catharines for allegedly luring a child online. 

In August 2023, investigators from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation relating to an unknown user luring persons under 16 years of age for a sexual purpose while utilizing social media platforms.

Investigators identified the user as, Steven Waterman who has had multiple social media platforms under the following personas: 
    •    “Steven.Waterman”
    •    “guyfrmont”
    •    “guyfrmont2914’
    •    “STC”
    •    “Niagara”
    •    “Niagara_1”
    •    “twinkluvont”

On Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, Steven Waterman was arrested and charged with the following:
    •    Luring a child under the age of 16 (X 2)
    •    Luring a child under the age of 18
    •    Breach of Prohibition Order

In addition, upon execution of a Criminal Code search warrant, it became evident to investigators that further victims may have been contacted by Steven Waterman online.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
