SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who descended down the Falls into the Niagara River on June 20, 2021.
On June 20, 2021, the SIU were notified of an incident in which Niagara Parks Police Service officers responded to a report of a suicidal male near the Falls. The male was located near the walkway outside the Table Rock Centre. When the officers approached the male, he suddenly went over the barrier and over the Falls.
On June 26, 2021, at around 4 p.m., the body of the deceased male was recovered near Queenston Docks.
The SIU is asking anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also asking anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
