Police investigating robbery in St. Catharines

Police say the suspect entered the store with a gun and demanded cash from an employee during the March 1 incident

On Monday, March 1, 2021, at approximately 3:10 a.m., 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service, attended an Avondale, located at 362 Scott Street in the City of St. Catharines in regards to a robbery.

Investigation revealed an unknown male entered the store with a gun, and demanded cash from an employee, from the register. The male suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival and was last seen running southbound on Vine Street.

The employee did not sustain any physical injuries, as a result of the robbery.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The suspect is described as being: 

  • Male 
  • 6’0 
  • 250lbs

Clothing description: 

  • Black and gray horizontal striped long sleeved sweater 
  • Black pants 
  • Black beanie touque 
  • Black shower shoes/sandals 
  • White socks 
  • Wearing a blue surgical mask that covered the majority of his face 
  • Carrying a white plastic bag
