Police continue to investigate death in Pelham

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have had contact with the victim in the days leading up to his death

Update 2 – Oct. 3, 2020, 2:30 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, at approximately 2:42 a.m., 3 District Uniform Officers, K9 and Emergency Services attended the area of Highway 20 and Cream Street, in the Town of Pelham, in response to a welfare check.

Uniform officers arrived on scene and located a male with serious injuries. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Earl Clapp (74 years old) of Pelham, Ont.

Investigation revealed that a suspect vehicle was involved.

Detectives are looking to speak with anyone who had contact with the victim in the days leading up to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police at 905-688-4111, dial option 3, ext. 9134

Update 1 - Oct. 2, 2020, 9:05 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, at approximately 2:42 a.m., 3 District Uniform Officers, K9 and Emergency Services attended the area of Highway 20 and Cream Street, in the Town of Pelham, in response to a welfare check.

The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by detectives with the Homicide Unit.

Detectives are asking anyone who resides in the area that has video footage, or vehicles with dash cams that may have been in the area between the hours of 12:00am-3:00am, on Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, to review their video footage and contact the Niagara Regional Police Service if they observe anything suspicious.

The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Collision Reconstruction Unit, the Forensic Service Unit, and the office of the Coroner.

Anyone with information, may have witnessed this incident, or may have been in the area at the time, is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, dial option 3, ext. 9134.
