***********************
At approximately 5:50 a.m. on Friday Feb. 21, 2020, 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers responded to the report of a collision in the area of Lundy's Lane and Kalar Road in the City of Niagara Falls.

When officers arrived, accompanied by paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Niagara Falls Fire Service, they discovered that a pedestrian had been struck by a black Ford pickup truck.

The female pedestrian was found to be in critical condition at the scene and resuscitative efforts were commenced by emergency services personnel. The pedestrian transported to a local hospital where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Lundy's Lane between Kalar Road and Montrose is currently closed. The businesses in the area remain open and accessible to pedestrian traffic only.

Members of the public should expect that the roads will be closed for a good portion of the morning and plan on finding alternative routes. That investigation is being led by detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit along with the Forensic Services Unit.

The identity of the deceased is not being released as detectives attempt to locate and notify the next of kin.
