Ottawa men arrested after shooting in Niagara Falls

Police say a replica gun was discharged and a male victim was struck by the pellets

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on July 29, 2020, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Casino Patrol Unit responded to a shooting in the area of Clifton Hill / Victoria Avenue, in the city of Niagara Falls.

Investigation revealed two groups engaged in a verbal argument with one and other. The argument turned physical which lead the accused a male to draw a replica gun from his waistband. The accused proceeded to discharge the replica gun in the direction of the victim. The male victim was struck by the pellets. 

The victim was treated by paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

As a result Mohomad Zieneddine (18 years) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Carrying a concealed weapon, contrary to section 90(1) CC

• Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) CC

• Possession of a weapon, contrary to section 88(1) CC

Mohammad Mejri (23 years) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offence in relation to the same incident:

• Assault, contrary to section 266 CC

Mohomad Zieneddine and Mohammad Mejri were held for a bail hearing on July 30, 2020, at 59 Church Street, in the city of St.Catharines.
