12-year-old suffers minor injuries following assault, robbery in Welland: police

Three teenagers sought as a result; police is asking for public's assistance to identify the suspects

On April 29, 2022, at 2:12 p.m. Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 3 District (Welland/Pelham) responded to the area of Thorold Road and Chippawa Street, in the City of Welland for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers located a 12-year-old male suffering from minor injuries. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics assisted by transporting the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment. He has since been released.

Investigation has revealed the victim was assaulted by three individuals and his personal items were taken during the commission of the offence. 3 District detectives have assumed carriage of the investigation and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

The three suspects wanted for the Criminal Code offence of Robbery are described as follows:

Suspect #1

  • Male
  • White
  • 13 years of age
  • 5’1” tall
  • 135 lbs
  • Long brown hair

Suspect #2

  • Male
  • White
  • 14 years of age
  • 5’1” tall
  • 95 lbs
  • Short brown hair

Suspect #3

  • Male
  • White
  • 15 years of age
  • 5’0” tall
  • 150 lbs
  • Brown hair

Detectives can confirm this was an isolated incident as the victim and suspects are known to one and other.

Residents with CCTV footage that captures Thorold Road and Chippawa Street and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera, are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, badge #9395 with any relevant information.
