Niagara Falls man faces theft, weapons charges

Officers seized nunchucks and stolen property during suspect's arrest

On Oct. 29, 2021, at 12:05 a.m., officers from 2 District Uniform Patrol responded to the 7-Eleven Convenience Store located on Dorchester Road, in the City of Niagara Falls for a theft in progress. The suspect ran from the store on foot with approximately $300 dollars in merchandise.

Later that morning at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers from 2 District Uniform Patrol responded to Overclocked Computer Store located on Dorchester Road in the City of Niagara Falls for a break and enter. The suspect again ran from the store prior to officers’ arrival. The suspect stole approximately $6,000 dollars in merchandise.

On Nov. 3, 2021 at 8 p.m., officers from 2 District Uniform Patrol responded to Spice n Flame restaurant located on Portage Road in the City of Niagara Falls for a belated theft. The suspect fled with a cell phone. He later contacted the store and attempted to gain financially by requesting a sum of money be paid for its return.

Detectives from the 2 District Criminal Investigative Branch continued the investigations and identified a suspect. On Nov. 5, 2021, detectives received judicial authorization to enter and search the suspect’s residence in Niagara Falls. In addition to recovering stolen property, one pair of nunchakus was seized. Nunchakus are a prohibited weapon, as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada. (AKA nunchucks)

Nima Rezazadeh (35 years) of Niagara Falls is charged with the following offences:
    •    theft under $5,000 dollars – Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada x2
    •    break and enter commit – Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    extortion – Section 346(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of a weapon, contrary to a prohibition order – Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of a prohibited device – Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    fail to comply with release order – Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Rezazadeh was held for a bail hearing on Nov. 6, 2021. He was remanded in custody and will re-appear via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Court House located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines on Nov. 9, 2021.
