Medicine bag stolen from parked ambulance in Welland, police say

There were no narcotics in the bag, according to police

On June 9, 2020, 3 District (Welland) uniform officers, attended the Welland Hospital at 63 Third Street in the City of Welland in relation to a theft of a bag from an ambulance.

The initial investigation revealed that a Niagara Emergency Medical Service ambulance was parked unoccupied in the ambulance parking bay at the hospital. An unknown male, opened the rear door and stole a medicine bag from inside the ambulance.

The suspect left the area on foot.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, white, 20-30 years old

Clothing description:

  • Toque
  • Roots long sleeve shirt
  • Blue jeans
  • Carrying a black backpack

The medical bag is described as:

  • Red with yellow zippers
  • Two handles, both say "medicine"
  • "Stat Packs" written on the front

The medication bag has various medications used to treat acute medical conditions, which could cause serious harm if injected or ingested. There were no narcotics in the bag.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information, or may have witnessed this event is asked to call 905-688-4111.
