Man enters Fort Erie home, threatens victim: police

Police say the female wasn't home at the time and called them from a safe place; no one was injured as a result of the incident

On Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at approximately 2:46 p.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service received a domestic complaint from a female victim, from the Town of Fort Erie.

Investigation revealed that a male had unlawfully entered a female’s residence, made threats toward the victim and refused to leave.  The female was not in the home at the time of the incident and contacted the police from a place of safety.  The female was not injured as a result of the incident.

5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers, detectives, the K9 Unit, the Emergency Task Unit and Negotiators with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area and safely contained the residence. The residence was in the Oakhill Forest area in the Town of Fort Erie.

At 10:27 p.m., a warrant was granted, and the suspect was placed under arrest without incident.

A 25-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Uttering threats (2 Counts)
  • Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts)
  • Possession of a firearm, weapon, or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

The accused was held in custody pending a video bail hearing that is expected to take place on February 13, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
