Grimsby man accused of shooting at new cars with air rifle, causing over $17K in damages

Update 1 – June 24, 2021

As a result of the ongoing investigation by 8 District - Grimsby detectives, multiple incidents of damage/vandalism have been discovered in Grimsby.

Detectives have conducted further investigation into incidents of new cars being shot at with an air rifle. Multiple cars at the Grimsby Ford, Kia and Chrysler lots have been damaged since February of 2021. Damages are believed to be in excess $17,000.

On June 23, 2021, Travis Jacob Walters (33 years old) of Grimsby was arrested and charged with the offences of:          

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm S.91(1) CC (7 Counts) 
  • Possession of a firearm in a car S.94(1) CC (7 Counts) 
  • Mischief under $5000 S.430(4) CC (7 Counts)

Walters has been held in custody in order to attend a video bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on June 24, 2021.
