Graffiti suspect arrested in St. Catharines

Niagara regional police have identified 73 locations where the tag appeared

Since January 2020, officers with the 1 District (St. Catharines) Detective Office have been investigating numerous similar graffiti tags that have been appearing around the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives identified 73 locations where the tag "GAFI" appeared. The "tags" have been located on citizen's private property, City of St. Catharines property and public utility property.

The offences are believed to have occurred between October of 2018 and January of 2020.

On March 14, 2020, detectives arrested a St. Catharines male.

Twenty-year-old John Wyatt Jarrett of the City of St. Catharines is facing the following alleged charges:
    •    Mischief over $5,000 - Section 430(4) CC (global count)
    •    Mischief under $5,000 - Section 430(4) CC (seven counts)

Jarrett is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
