Burial urn containing ashes stolen during Pelham break-in

Investigators with the 3 District (Welland) detective office are asking for information as they continue to investigate a break and enter that occurred in the Town of Pelham.

The incident was reported to police the evening of Jan. 2, 2020 and is believed to have occurred at some point during the day at a residence in the area of Maple Street and Kilman Road.

Jewelry, as well as a burial urn containing ashes, were stolen from the residence.

The urn is described as a small wooden box made with barn board with black and light coloured wood.

Detectives are asking the person responsible to consider turning in the ashes to a safe location or contacting police as to the location of the urn out of respect to the family of the deceased.
