Arrest made in Niagara Region ATV theft investigation

Since September of 2020, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) has been investigating a series of thefts of all terrain vehicles (ATV) that occurred in the Niagara Region.

The investigation, led by detectives from the 3 District – Welland Street Crime Unit, resulted in detectives identifying a stolen ATV at a residence in the City of Welland involving a male suspect.

Subsequently, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Forks Road East and Nugent Road in the City of Welland. As a result, police recovered an ATV and a sport motorcycle that had been reported stolen in the Niagara Region.

On Sept. 28, 2020, the suspect was arrested.

Jeff M. Ward (33 years old) from Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (two counts)

Ward was held in custody pending a bail hearing, expected to take place on Sept. 29, 2020 at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.
