Trucker convoy spotted on area highways (5 photos)

Locals gather on Niagara overpasses as protesters head to Toronto

Local overpasses were crowded this morning as supporters of the trucker convoy headed to Ottawa passed through the area.

The convoy, which was headed Toronto-bound to join up with other protesters headed out from Fort Erie early Thursday, and picked up supporters from NOTL before hitting the highway.

No major traffic incidents were reported, however the area around the Hamilton skyway was at times congested, according to reports.

The convoy, which has attracted nation-wide attention is headed to Ottawa and is slated to roll into the capital on Saturday to protest the vaccine mandates for cross-border truckers, which supporters of the cause say is an infringement on their freedoms.

Ottawa police has stated it is preparing for a ‘fluid’ situation, and has advised drivers in the downtown core to be prepared for major delays.
