Serge Laroche of Port Colborne won “Ontario’s jackpot” – $267,742.90 in the Oct. 22, 2022 LOTTARIO draw, said a news release.

Serge, 34, says he has been occasionally playing the lottery since he turned 18 years old. "I typically play LOTTARIO, ONTARIO 49 and LOTTO 6/49," he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque. "This is my first big win."

The skilled trade worker checked his ticket using the OLG App while enjoying his coffee one morning. "When I saw the Big Winner screen, it took a moment for it to fully register. I was wondering if I read the numbers correctly – it was overwhelming," he said. "I paced for about an hour while my girlfriend slept in. When she woke up, I showed her the ticket and she was so surprised!"

Serge said he was taken aback by what he saw. “It felt like a dream. We went onto the OLG website to watch the balls drop from the draw. It was special. It’s been an awesome experience,” he said.

Serge plans to purchase a new vehicle and travel. "My girlfriend and I want to go to Europe," he said. “But for now, I’ll put this in the bank while I cool off for a bit.”

OLG is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. We strongly encourage those with claims between $1,000 and $49,999.90 to submit them online or mail them in. Submitting claims online is fast and secure. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options.

LOTTARIO launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 10:30 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the Early Bird draw. Visit the LOTTARIO page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Main Street in Port Colborne.
