LCHS asks for help for homeless senior who dropped off his pets after he felt he couldn't care for them

'He's a proud man and kind soul who deserves our compassion,' the organization says

Lincoln County Humane Society normally only helps four-legged clients in need of help, but after a senior in need dropped off his pets after experiencing homelessness, the organization is pleading with the public for help.

It was yesterday that the elderly St Catharines residents showed up at the shelter to drop off his pets, as he couldn't care for them while living in his car, the organization said.

"While we did offer to provide temporary boarding until he could get back on his feet, it, unfortunately, isn't an option for him at this time," LCHS wrote in a Facebook post, adding the individual is a 'proud man and kind soul who deserves our compassion.'

LCHS is asking for gift cards to Walmart and grocery stores, a barbershop gift card, winter clothing, and more to help the individual.
Extras will be taken to local charities.

'As you know animals are our primary concern – but, we have a chance to help someone who needs it and, as part of the community, our staff could not just walk away from this person in need,' LCHS wrote.
