Mark your calendars. The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) is a cost-shared infrastructure funding program between the federal government, provinces and territories, and municipalities and other recipients. This program will see up to $30 billion in combined federal, provincial and other partner funding, under four priority areas, including Community, Culture and Recreation. Timelines: The completed application and supporting documentation must be submitted to Grants Ontario by 11:59:59 p.m. EDT on Nov. 12, 2019. From Aug. 23, 2019 to Aug. 28, 2019 the Grants Ontario system will be undergoing an upgrade and will be unavailable. The system will be available again on Aug. 29, 2019, when a read only application form, and other ICIP Community, Culture and Recreation Stream documents can be downloaded, for reference. Please note, the fillable application form will be available on Sept. 3, 2019. Find out more here.
Local: Niagara Community Safety Zones
Community Safety Zones help to change driver behaviour, including reducing speed and distracted driving, and improving safety on certain sections of road where public safety is of special concern. Niagara Region is implementing two Community Safety Zones approved by Regional Council beginning September, 2019 at:
· St. David's Public School, York Rd. (Regional Rd. 81) from Queenston Rd. to Concession 3 Rd. in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is a length of 1.10 km.
· Twenty Valley Public School, Victoria Ave. (Regional Rd. 24) from Frederick Ave. to King St. (Regional Rd. 81) in Lincoln. This is a length of 1.20 km.
Regional staff will report back to council at the end of 2019 on recommendations for Community Safety Zones on regional roads throughout Niagara. Read more about the community safety zones here.
