Family of missing ex-soldier issues another appeal for clues

St. Catharines resident Katrina Blagdon, 37, vanished on New Year's Eve; 'She would never go this long without contact,' mother says in new video released by police

The family of a missing St. Catharines military veteran is sending out another appeal for information about her sudden disappearance.

It has been 45 days since the last confirmed sighting of 37-year-old Katrina Blagdon, who vanished without a trace on New Year’s Eve. Now, her family members are putting out another appeal for information via Niagara Regional Police.

“I want people to know that Trina would never, ever do this, leave her family,” says Katrina Blagdon’s sister, Kelly Blagdon, in a video message released by police Monday afternoon.

“This isn’t like her, to leave us in the dark for over a month now.”

Area hydro poles and storefronts have been plastered with posters of the missing mother of two, whose sudden disappearance is both out of character for her, and surrounded by mysterious circumstances, her family has previously told ThoroldToday.

According to police, the last confirmed sighting of Blagdon was on New Year’s Eve, when she was captured on security video at Firehouse Subs in St. Catharines with her boyfriend, picking up food. The two later departed in Blagdon’s lime green Jeep. Police have appealed for any dashcam footage or sightings of the car after 6 - 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Blagdon’s family, who live out of province, have been renting accommodations in Thorold since a few days after her disappearance to be closer to the search effort. The family has previously spoken about the support they have received from the local community, and the gruelling feeling of not knowing what happened to Katrina, or why she went missing.

“She would never go this long without contact,” Katrina Blagdon’s mother, Bonnie Leights, says in the newly released video.

“Whether it would be a text, an email, a phone call. She would never go this long.”

Police did not provide any new information about the ongoing investigation, except that it has had dedicated resources from the Marine Unit, K9 Unit and detective offices to determine Katrina’s whereabouts.

Katrina is described as 5’4, with a slim build, dirty blonde hair and tattoos.

Anyone with information regarding Katrina's location is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service dispatch at (905) 688-4111, dial option 3, extension 1008429 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
