NRPH reported 32 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday in the largest daily increase since early June.

According to the region's statistics, June 5 was the most recent date when more than 30 cases were logged in a single day.

17 recoveries were noted, leaving the number of active cases in the region at 214.

Six outbreaks are now listed as active, following at least two new outbreaks noted this week.

Niagara Health said in a report yesterday morning that 7 patients are currently being treated in area hospitals. 6 of those individuals are unvaccinated, according to the hospital system.

The region's acting medical officer of health, Dr. Mustafa Hirji said in a media briefing earlier this week that the new case growth in the region is driven by the Delta-variant.

In total, 66 percent of residents have been fully vaccinated in the region.
