Arrest made in Niagara Region fraud investigation

In November of 2020, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Central Fraud Unit commenced an investigation involving several [alleged] frauds taking place in the Niagara Region by Gehres Windows and Doors.

Detectives determined that the offences involved a man accepting construction jobs replacing windows and doors, and subsequently taking money for services that he would never provide. As a result of their ongoing investigation, detectives have been able to identify six victims.

On May 13, 2021, the suspect was arrested.

Daniel Gehres (63 years old) was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    Fraud under $5,000 (four counts)
    •    Fraud over $5,000 (two counts)

Gehres was released on a Form 10-Undertaking with a future court date.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives believe there are more victims.
