Outbreak at Saint Michael declared over by Public Health

Niagara Catholic has reported other COVID-19 cases at St. Charles, Father Hennepin, Our Lady of Fatima, and Sacred Heart

Niagara Catholic has been advised that the outbreak at Saint Michael Catholic High School, which included seven confirmed cases of COVID-19, has been declared over by Niagara Region Public Health.

Public Health has also advised that a second, confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported at St. Charles Catholic Elementary School. This case is related to a previously reported case. As a result, Public Health declared an outbreak at the school, which has now ended. Despite this, Public Health confirms that there is no risk of transmission to anyone at the school.

Niagara Catholic has also learned that an individual at Father Hennepin Catholic Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. This person has been in isolation since prior to the Christmas break and Public Health determined there was no risk of transmission to the school community.

Finally, an individual with a connection to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School in Grimsby, Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and Father Hennepin Catholic Elementary School has also been confirmed as a positive case of COVID-19 by Niagara Region Public Health. Public Health has been in contacted anyone who was in contact with this individual. Please note this case is reflected on Our Lady of Fatima’s number count, as that is where it originated to avoid any confusion.

Niagara Catholic advises all contacts to follow the recommendations of Niagara Region Public Health.
