Niagara Health workers who need to self-isolate will receive pandemic pay, the hospital system has announced.

Beginning March 1, 2021, temporary self-isolation pay will be applied until March 31, 2021, and retroactively to July 13, 2020, subject to the progression of the pandemic and any related government orders, at Niagara Health.

“Our hospital employees go above and beyond every day to provide safe, high-quality care. We are truly grateful for their unwavering commitment during these uncertain times as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Flo Paladino, Niagara Health Executive Vice President People, and Organizational Development, in a statement.

“We recognize the continued pressures and challenges that COVID-19 places on our employees and teams. We are continually assessing and adjusting our response to support our workforce and provide safe patient care.”

Ontario Health issued temporary recommendations regarding employee self-isolation pay during the first wave of the pandemic.

It expired on June 30 of last year.
