While reporting a significantly lower daily count of COVID-19 than earlier this week, Public Health announces that a health-care facility in the region is battling the virus.

The Primrose Unit at The Meadows of Dorchester in Niagara Falls declared an outbreak on Tuesday.

The list of long-term care facilities dealing with the virus has grown slowly in recent weeks.

Currently, six health-care facilities have active outbreaks, and another three outbreaks outside of them are also ongoing.

Niagara has now seen a total of 861 cases of COVID-19 in residents.

After seeing a spike in cases on Tuesday, officials have expressed concern over the spread of the virus in Niagara Falls as 13 residents tested positive for the virus recently.

Yesterday, the province reported 76 new cases, a record low number matched only in the early days of the pandemic.

About half of today's new cases (43 cases) are people between 20 and 39 years old, and 21 of today's cases were individuals between the ages of 40 and 59 years old.

Six of the province's health units reported more than five cases with the remaining 28 reporting between zero and five new cases for today's Public Health Ontario update.

Windsor-Essex reported 15 new cases, Toronto reported 10 new cases, Peel reported 12 new cases, and Ottawa reported 15 new cases.

There were three more deaths reported today, including two people between the ages of 60 and 79 and one person over the age of 80.
