Another outbreak in a long-term care home has been declared as the region reports another day with nine new cases of COVID-19.

The entire facility at Millennium Trail Manor in Niagara Falls has been put under outbreak status, joining two other facilities in the region who have also confirmed cases of COVID-19.

In total, there are six active outbreaks of which at least one has been declared at Eastdale High in Welland.

There are now 99 active cases of the virus across Niagara in the latest wave of new infections.

The region’s acting medical officer of health told Thorold News on Wednesday that social gatherings and complacency around health guidelines are what is driving the increasing infection rate.

In total, 1082 Niagara residents have tested positive and at least 64 have died.
