Niagara Health says family doctors in the region will work with residents age 80 and over for vaccinations against COVID-19, said the hospital system.

Leading up to March 15, when the provincial booking system opens up for residents over 80, family doctors are helping to start getting residents set up for the shot over the next few days only.

Individuals are being contacted directly to book their appointments with the clinic, which will belocated at the Seymour Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre in St Catharines.

At this time, Niagara Health will continue to vaccinate targeted groups at the arena clinic or in the hospital. This work will evolve and change, and currently includes:

Current or recently admitted 80+ year old patients of Niagara Health or Hotel Dieu Shaver Health & Rehabilitation Centre

Complex care patients in hospital and those at home who are supported by Home and Community Care providers, regardless of age

Frontline healthcare workers and others deemed eligible per the provincial guidance

In all cases, those eligible for an appointment will be contacted directly.
