22 new cases, 2 deaths reported in Niagara

NRPH reports 22 new cases and two more deaths in its Friday COVID-19 update.

There are 204 active cases in Niagara and 87 deaths have been recorded since the start of the pandemic.

One of the cases in Friday's update was found in Thorold.

110 town residents have now tested positive for the virus.

Ontario update

 

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 1,780 new cases of COVID-19 today, which is 44 fewer than yesterday. There were 1,824 cases reported on Thursday.

Of today's new cases, most are confined to the Greater Toronto Area. There are 433 new cases confirmed in Peel Region, 633 cases in Toronto, and 152 in York Region. That represents 1,218 — or 68 per cent — of the new lab-confirmed cases reported over the past 24 hours.

The agency also reported 25 more deaths related to the coronavirus over the past 24 hours. 

More than 1,553 cases have been resolved since yesterday. 

Over the past 24 hours, 56,000 tests were completed.

Since the start of the pandemic, public health labs in Ontario have processed more than 6.4 million COVID tests.

Throughout Ontario, there are 674 people currently hospitalized with the coronavirus.

Since Ontario began reporting COVID-19 cases, there have been 123,526 reported cases in Ontario, 104,792 recoveries and 3,737 deaths.
