Welland man in custody after stabbing

Faces charges of Utter Death Threats and Aggravated Assault

On July 28, 2019, at approximately 4 p.m. 3 District Welland uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were called for a report of a stabbing in Welland.

Officers attended the area of King Street and First Street and located a man suffering from a stab wound to his upper body. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released to recover at home.

The investigation by uniform officers and detectives from the 3 District Criminal Investigations Branch determined there had been altercation between the injured man and another man in the area of Albert Street and King Street. During the course of that altercation the injured man was stabbed with a knife.
 
Timothy R. Campbell (51 years old) of Welland has been arrested and charged with the alleged offences of:
  • Utter Death Threats, contrary to Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Aggravated Assault, contrary to Section 268 of the Criminal Code
Investigators believe there are witnesses in the community.  Anyone who may have seen this altercation or have any information is asked to contact detectives by calling 905-688-4111 extension 3300.

Campbell was held in custody to attend a bail hearing on July 29, 2019 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
