Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Criminal Investigations Unit have laid charges in connection to a child-luring incident in Collingwood.

In December 2021 the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP commenced an investigation that in October 2021 the man had started communicating with a youth in Collingwood over social media and subsequently travelled to Collingwood for a sexual purpose.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Martin, 64 years of age, of Welland, has been charged with the following offences: sexual interference, child luring, sexual assault, and obtaining sexual services for consideration from a person under 18 years.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on July 5.

The OPP remind parents to remind your children of the dangers of communicating with people they don’t know while they are online and monitor their social media activities.
