Two men arrested and facing drug charges in St. Catharines

Since September 2021, members of the 1 District Street Crime Unit have been investigating the alleged sale of drugs in the city of St.Catharines, by a male suspect.

On Oct. 14th, 2021, at approximately 6:28 p.m., the suspect was arrested following a traffic stop at Arran Drive and Everton Court in the city of St. Catharines. As a result, officers seized 30.3 grams of fentanyl, 6.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and $1,362.50 in Canadian currency. The currency was believed to be proceeds from the sale of illicit drugs.

Subsequently, members of the Emergency Task Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service executed a search warrant in the area of Academy Street and King Street, in the city of St. Catharines.  Officers seized 74 suspected oxycodone’s, $360 in additional currency which is believed to be proceeds of crime, bicycles, power tools, and miscellaneous items indicative of stolen items believed to be of a value exceeding $5,000.  The total estimated street value of seized drugs is $15,974. 

Members of the Emergency Task Unit, then located another suspect. Subsequently, he was placed under arrest. As a result, officers seized 14.3 grams of purple Fentanyl, 25.5 grams of Cocaine and $20,465.00 in Canadian currency which was believed to be proceeds from the sale of illicit drugs. The total estimated street value of seized drugs is $10, 210.

Piotr Zawadzki (33 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (oxycodone) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code.
  • Fail to comply with Probation order contrary to section contrary 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
  • Possession of firearm, weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code

Zawadzki was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Oct. 15, 2021.

Shadrach A. Williams (33 years old), of Toronto, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) for the Purposes of Trafficking- s. 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl) for the Purposes of Trafficking- s. 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000- s. 355(a) CC

Williams was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Oct. 15, 2021.
