On Jan. 4, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers responded to the Niagara Region headquarters building in Thorold for a threats investigation.

Officers were called to the building by staff after they received a phone call of a threatening nature. Officers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. 

Roads in the area and access to the building was temporarily restricted. Members of the Emergency Task Unit assisted in clearing the building. The investigation determined there was no credible/active threat to the staff or building and roads were reopened at approximately 5:05 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing by 1 District - St. Catharines detectives.
