Police say a 22-year-old male was seriously wounded in a stabbing at the basketball court of a campground in Port Colborne on Saturday night.

Niagara Regional Police say they responded just before 10:30 p.m. to Sherkston Shores campground at 490 Empire Rd.

There they found a 22-year-old male suffering from a serious stab wound, police said in a news release.

Niagara EMS paramedics treated the victim at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital for further care.

He was later flown by Ornge Air Ambulance helicopter to an out-of-region hospital, according to the release.
