St. Catharines stabbing incident remains under investigation

Police appeal for video footage of the September 25 incident

Oct. 4 update:
On Sept. 25, 2020 at approximately 10:25 a.m., 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to an assist ambulance call at a multi-unit residence in the area of Geneva Street north of Scott Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives are asking anyone who resides in the area that has video footage, or vehicles with dash cams that may have been in the area between the hours of 10 and 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 to review their video footage and contact the Niagara Regional Police Service if they observe anything or anyone suspicious.

On Sept. 25, 2020 at approximately 10:25 a.m., 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to an assist ambulance call in St. Catharines.

Officers and Niagara EMS paramedics attended a multi-unit residence in the area of Geneva Street, north of Scott Street. Upon arrival they discovered a 33-year-old male victim suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. 

The victim was transported by paramedics to a local hospital in critical condition. The victim was airlifted by Ornge Air Ambulance to an out of region hospital.

The investigation has been taken over by detectives from the 1 District St. Catharines detective office. They are being assisted by detectives from the Forensic Services Unit.

The incident is believed to have taken place where the victim was located sometime between 10 and 10:25 a.m. The suspect(s) identity is unknown at this time. 

Detectives have canvassed area residences for more information. Any residences or businesses in the area of the incident with security cameras are asked to review the footage for anything suspicious and contact detectives.
