St. Catharines man facing aggravated assault charges after alleged stabbing

On Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at approximately 1 p.m., 1 district uniform officers attended the area of Geneva Street and Church Street, in regards to a stabbing.

Investigation revealed that a 33-year-old male attended the area and had gotten into an argument with a 50-year-old male.

The argument escalated to a physical confrontation which resulted in the 50-year-old male slashing the victim then stabbing him. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital with a non life threatening injuries.

Michael Calder (50 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offence of:

  • Aggravated assault

Calder was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on September 2, 2021.
