St. Catharines driver accused of impaired in Kawartha Lakes

OPP say a traffic stop occurred just after midnight

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police charged a driver with impaired operation after conducting a traffic stop in Verulam Township.

Just after midnight on Dec. 1, 2021 officers stopped a motor vehicle on Kelly's Bay Road and found the driver to be impaired by alcohol.

Richard Kidd, 47 years-of-age, of St Catharines has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on Dec. 17, 2021.
